Female athlete was really a man

A Chinese woman athlete who won dozens of medals has thrown most of them away after learning she is really a man.

Xiao Nan, of Chengdu, won more than 40 medals as a women in student competitions after graduating from high school.

But after hospital tests confirmed Xiao's suspicions that she was really a man she has thrown out all but 10 of them.

"Being a champion was never a happy thing to me. Standing on the podium made me feel guilty, and I always thought the real champion should have been the one standing next to me," Xiao said.

Xiao's extraordinary athletic performances in schools and in provincial and national competitions, won her great honour and free access to university education.

But, inside, she felt confused: "I felt I often had an impulse or desire for women instead of men. And my body is more like a man than a woman."

Xiao had a check-up at a local hospital and the result confirmed she had male chromosomes.

He is now living as a man and has begun a course of sex change surgery at Sichuan Xichan Plastic Surgery Hospital which will take nine months.

"The first thing I want to do after the surgery is to go swimming, wearing only boxer shorts," Xiao told Chengdu Business Daily.

Pregnant woman who died several times after heart attack gave birth to a baby

A pregnant mother who suffered a severe heart attack and 'died' several times on the operating table gave birth to a son just a week later.

Cheryl Crisp, 35, lost her memory after doctors were forced to induce a coma when she suffered a heart attack at six months' pregnant. She told today how she woke up from a coma and asked her partner why she was in hospital - only to be told that she had suffered a heart attack and had a baby.

Miss Crisp had been shopping with Mr Kemp on December 2 when she passed out in their car before suffering a heart attack. Mr Kemp drove to their GP surgery in Elmers End near their home in Beckenham, South East London. Cheryl was immediately sent into theatre where doctors carried out emergency surgery to remove the clot.

The mum's heart stopped several times on the table as surgeons battled to save her life and that of her unborn son. And because of the unborn baby, doctors could not give her the normal drugs to help her heart.

Doctors were able to remove the clot and Cheryl finally came round from the induced coma six days later.

Cheryl, from Beckenham, Kent had suffered memory loss and had no idea she was pregnant. But She gave birth to Albie who weighed in at just 2lb 7oz.

Albie is still being cared for in the special unit. He has breathing problems but doctors are hoping he will overcome his difficulties.

The Grand View Topless Coffee Shop

The Grandview Topless Coffee Shop has a 18 or Older sign on the front, and when you walk in, topless women are ready to serve you coffee.

The Coffee Shop is located at the site of the former Grand View Motel, opened its doors Monday on busy Route 3 in Vassalboro. A sign outside says, "Over 18 only." Another says, "No cameras, no touching, cash only."

Half-naked waitresses and a bare-chested waiter serve up the morning treats. Rules are strict: there's no touching and only adults are allowed into the log-cabin style shop.

Dozens of residents objected to the shop when the Vassalboro planning board meeting took up the matter last month. But town officials said the coffee shop met the letter of the law.

Sex chip' being developed by scientists

Scientists are developing an electronic "sex chip" that can be implanted into the brain to stimulate pleasure.The chip works by sending tiny shocks from implanted electrodes in the brain.

The implanted chip, which stimulates the brain's pleasure points, has already been used in the United States to treat Parkinson's disease and, in England, is now being studied as a potential treatment for anhedonia, a disorder that blocks pleasurable sensations like those in sex and eating.

"There is evidence that this chip will work," he said. "A few years ago, a scientist implanted such a device into the brain of a woman with a low sex drive and turned her into a very sexually active woman. She didn't like the sudden change, so the wiring in her head was removed."

How to do the wiring remains a hurdle. Aziz says current technology, which requires surgery to connect a wire from a heart pacemaker into the brain, causes bleeding in some patients and is "intrusive and crude"
